Creator Expert Pickup Truck (10290) Revealed

The next Creator Expert Vehicle set has been revealed. The Pickup Truck is the first Creator Expert vehicle to not be licensed from a real car, which is interesting. Sadly, the set number is the same as the rumoured DeLorean, so this reveal almost confirms the rumour to be wrong…

The set will have 1,677 pieces and retail for €129.99 from October 1st

Bricklink Designer Program Begins

The first round of the Bricklink Designer Program began this week. 7 projects were up for funding/preorder, with 5 of them eligible to recieve funding.

From what I gathered, the Castle in the Forest project was the most popular, reportedly recieving full funding within just 30 minutes. Hilariously, the BIONICLE Legends project lost to the Kakapo bird set, disappointing all 17 BIONICLE fans out there.

I believe the next round of funding will begin on 12th August. I’m not sure which projects will be in round 2, but I’m hoping to pick up some of those Modular builds myself.

Superhero Set Reveals

Bro Thor's New Asgard

One of the most unique superhero sets to date is Bro Thor’s New Asgard from Avengers Endgame. The set will come with 265 pieces and 3 named characters, two of which are minifigures. These are Bro Thor, Korg, and Miek.

I really don’t see the appeal in this set personally. The build looks boring, and I don’t really have an attachment to any of the characters. I’ve seen lots of excitement around this set though, so credit to it for that. It’s just not for me.

Spider-Man vs. Mysterio's Drone Attack

A suprisingly interesting set revealed this week would be the 4+ Spider-Man vs. Mysterio’s Drone Attack set, mainly for the minifigures. The set comes with Spider-Man, Nick Fury, and Mysterio.

Spider-Man is new and comes with a nice black and red colour scheme with dual molded legs. Nick Fury comes with printed torso and leg pieces which is as good as needed. And Mysterio returns with an incredible full body and leg print.

The set will retail for €19.99 and contain 73 pieces, which is par for the 4+ course.

Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop

A potentially spoiler-filled set for Spider-Man: No Way Home would be the Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop set. The background build looks boring enough, but that spider-ish mech and minifigures are interesting.

The set will come with 355 pieces for €39.99. The sets’ 4 minifigures include Dr Strange, MJ, Spider-Man, and Wong. Spider-Man is a new figure with a cool red/black/gold colour scheme and dual molded legs. Doctor Strange and Wong look amazing too, with MJ being just some generic figure in contrast.

Spider-Man's Drone Duel

The final Spider-Man set revealed this week is the Spider-Man’s Drone Duel set. It comes with 2 minifigures (Spider-Man and Vulture) with 198 pieces for €19.99

The highlight of this set is easily the Spider-Man minifigure. It’s a brand-new black/gold design with full torso, back, waist, legs, face, and arm printing! Vulture is whatever, with  a cool face/torso print but with generic unprinted Chandler Bing pants.

LEGO Ideas

Only one new set passed 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas this week. This set is the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine by Let Them Fly. I think the model looks incredible and would work really good as a LEGO set. Unfortunately, Ideas submissions of licensed properties rarely get made into an official set.

There is some hope for it, given that LEGO made an entire Scooby Doo wave in 2015. On the flipside, there was only that wave in 2015, so you could guess the theme didn’t do too well. If it didn’t, I can’t see LEGO making another set based on it. Time will tell, and I’m somewhat hopeful.

Rankings Update

There’s been some changes this week in my Star Wars Rankings. The biggest change involved the Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon, which I feel as though I marked way too harshly before. It moves up an entire 10 places in my overall rankings. The Razor Crest play-set has fallen a few ranks given how there’s no real exclusive or valuable figure in it anymore. That and the ship is blown up. Full changes below.
