Volkswagen T2 Camper Van (10279) Revealed! Next Creator Expert Vehicle [NEWS]
Today, seemingly out of nowhere, we got the official reveal of the Volkswagen T2 Camper Van. This is the 13th set in the Creator Expert Vehicles subtheme and will release August 1st.
The set will retail for €159.99 and come with 2,207 pieces. It will measure 15cm high, 35cm long, and 14cm wide, making it essentially the same size as the other Creator Expert vehicle sets. This means it definitely isn’t built to the same scale, but will display well alongside them.
Breaking the Trend
Interestingly, this makes it the third Creator Expert Vehicle set released this year, alongside the Porsche 911 and the upcoming Pickup Truck set. This breaks the usual trend of 1 or 2 Vehicle releases per year with one being a car and one being a ‘special’ vehicle. It’s also the most expensive set in this subtheme to date, aside from the Ghostbusters ECTO-1 (which I reviewed here). Initial impressions for this set is that it looks really smooth and satisfying to put together. But I really don’t think I have enough of an attachment to the vehicle to justify that price. If it’s like its predecessor, the Volkswagen T1 Camper Van (which remained on sale for 10+ years) I should have plenty of time to pick it up should I change my mind.
